This is our integrated Core pupil database.

It is supplied free to users of BSL Modules.

A Core Information database, like this one, holds all the information that almost every child will have.

For example, their name, UPN, address, schooling history, parent/guardian address and results are all candidates for storage in a core pupil database.

The advantages are:

• Only one central record needs to be kept up to date and error free
• Schemes for reading in data provided by schools and collected by the government can be set up
• One team can take responsibility for the data needs of everyone
• One team can take care of arbitrating contradictory data
• Peripheral users benefit by having child data kept up to date for them

Clearly a Core Database will have information on Schools, Head Teachers, Budget codes and other useful information. It will also have places to record EPs, EWOs and other supporting information.

It is an E-gif compliant data storage, import and export system, which meets DfES requirements.

It supports the entire suite of BSL Pupil Management Applications.It is equipped with methods for supplying all the data the DfES requires LEAs to store and supply.

This system reads in data from schools.

• It deals with duplicates by preventing errors repeatedly cluttering your data

• Parental data is loaded sensibly to prevent accumulation of unnecessary data
• PLASC and other data sources can be used to update your data

PIMS Core manages the inevitable errors and duplications using a secure process, provides feedback to schools and managers about the state of the data correspondence between centrally held data sources and schools based ones.

PIMS Core provides tables that are the basis for BSL modules. As modules are added the system provides a single view of all the data on a particular child, including access to the individual histories, correspondence records and workflow information on every module present.

PIMS Core can be configured to access non-BSL pupil database systems, to provide an integrated
'single database' view of data from other systems.

This product is extremely useful for LEAs attempting to manage several pupil data packages, which do not otherwise intercommunicate.

There are many utilities to make the administration and database manager's task easier, such as duplicates and match detection, close matching, assignment of cross-system unique identifiers.
